She was best known for her role as "Mrs. Margaret Drysdale" on the popular TV series "The Beverly Hillbillies" which aired from 1962 to 1971. MacGibbon's character was the snobbish wife of Milburn Drysdale, the banker who manages the Clampett family's newfound wealth.

Aside from her role on The Beverly Hillbillies, Harriet MacGibbon appeared in numerous other films and television shows throughout her career, often portraying wealthy, upper-class women. Some of her other notable roles include appearances on "I Love Lucy," "Perry Mason," and "Dr. Kildare."
